Meet CSIRO Chairman, Simon McKeon who will be our guest presenter.   His talk will be followed by food and refreshments so members will have the opportunity to catch up with former colleagues.  

Simon is Executive Chairman of Macquarie Groups Melbourne office and 2011 Australian of the Year.  
He is Chair of the 'McKeon' Review into Health and Medical Research.

About the speaker:

Simon McKeon has extensive board experience in the private and public sectors, combined with senior roles in investment banking and legal experience.

He was appointed as Chairman of the Board of CSIRO on 28 June 2010. Currently he is the Executive Chairman of Macquarie Group's Melbourne Office and Chairman of Business for Millennium Development and Global Poverty Project Australia.

Simon is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a Director of Vision Fund International, Red Dust Role Models and Global Poverty Project Inc and is a member of the Australian Government's Human Rights Grants Scheme Advisory Panel. He is also Chairman of the Federal Government's 2012 Review into Health & Medical Research.

Simon has previously served as Chairman of Multiple Sclerosis Research Australia, MYOB, the Association of Independent Schools of Victoria and the Australian Government's Point Nepean Community Trust.  He is a member on the Boards of MS Australia and MS Victoria, World Vision Australia and as a Director of the Archbishop of Melbourne's Relief and Development Fund and as President of the Australian Government's Takeovers Panel.

Simon was named Australian of the Year 2011. On 11 June 2012, he was named an Officer of the Order of Australia for "distinguished service to business and commerce through leadership and advisory roles, and to the community as a supporter of national and international charitable, educational and sporting organisations". He has a keen interest in sailing, and has held the outright World Sailing Speed Record with Tim Daddo for much of the period from 1993 through to the present. Simon is also a patron of the Australian Olympic Sailing Team.



The event is for all Alumni in Victoria and not just those who worked at the Clayton site.  Some alumni who do not drive at night may appreciate a lift, so please consider car-pooling.
