To advance the implementation of the Inspiring Australia strategy, experts across Australia have been working together to develop recommendations for enhancing science engagement in areas that have required further analysis. Four Expert Working Groups are now welcoming comment and feedback on their draft reports:

·         Inspiration from the deserts

·         Science engagement into and for Australia’s tropical region

·         Indigenous Engagement with Science – Towards deeper understandings

·         Effective communication of marine science to the Australian community

The recommendations of these working groups focus on providing a coherent, national approach to engaging various communities with the sciences. They propose ways to support recommendations of the Inspiring Australia report including community engagement (Principle 8 of the report), building effective networks (Principle 9) and unlocking Australia's full potential (Principle 12).

Each report has sought to analyse the current situation, identify the key stakeholders and issues, and propose a strategy to move forward. The reports can be accessed via the following link:

Please provide your comment and feedback to the contacts for each Expert Working Group no later than Thursday 31 May 2012. Please pass this newsletter on to your own networks.
