Science fiction has been implicated both directly and indirectly in a wide range of scientific advances. From water beds and living grass carpets to robots and satellites, many of these ideas originated in Science Fiction. Many other ideas have become accepted as commonplace after making an appearance in Science Fiction films and stories and even led scientists to choose a life of science as a result. This talk will look at various fictional universes of Science, including Star Wars, and discuss their real life versions and futuristic inventions.
